Green award for community support group
A green accolade has been bestowed on a community support group in the Worcestershire town of Wychavon.
The Evesham Observer reports that the group Sedgeberrow Sustainable and Manageable Energy picked up the title of Community Group Winner in this year's Intelligently Green Awards.
Helping to provide additional external wall insulation for hundreds of households across the area, the group was hailed a worthy victor in what was a competitive category.
The organisation held off strong competition from a range of other excellent schemes in the local area, but it was the impact on the firm's work on the standard of living and the monthly costs of all those that had received support from the body that helped to set it apart from the rest.
Emma Stokes, executive board member for environment and street scene at Wychavon District Council, said: "Our judges had a tough enough time selecting the finalists and an even more challenging debate was had as we discussed the possible winners from such a high standard of green projects. But in the end the quality of the winners selected really shone through.
"We want them to act as an inspiration to other individuals, businesses and community groups in showing how creative and intelligently green schemes can really work for everyone in Wychavon."
Other winners at the Intelligently Green Awards included the Pershore Weir Hydro Project, Walsh Mushrooms and SeSaME.
