Rainscreen Cladding Systems

Rainscreen Cladding Systems

There are a wide variety of proprietary rainscreen cladding systems available most of which have the insulation installed on the external face of a masonry wall, this helps to keep internal temperatures stable by storing heat in the winter and reducing solar gains in the summer.

Earthwool® OmniFit Slab

Earthwool OmniFit Slab is a multi-purpose, flexible, non-combustible, glass mineral wool slab, engineered for additional robustness. It is ideal for use within light steel frame construction as it is specifically designed for installation by friction fitting, minimising any gaps which can otherwise lead to unwanted heat loss.

The product also has exceptional acoustic absorption properties , further enhancing the acoustic performance of the through-wall rainscreen cladding system.

  • Alternative to existing flexible slabs
  • High level of thermal performance - 0.035W/mK
  • Available in 600mm and 400mm wide variants

Earthwool® Rainscreen Slab

Earthwool RainScreen Slab is a semi-rigid, lightweight, non combustible rock mineral wool slab containing a water repellent additive, specifically designed for use in rainscreen cladding systems.

The product is lightweight but rigid enough to resist the compression forces generated when fixing the insulation slabs to the buildings substrate. The water repellent additive in Earthwool RainScreen Slab provides a further line of defence against rain penetration.

Earthwool RainScreen Slab is classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN 13501-1, Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame to BS 476:Part 7:1997 and Class ‘O’ to the Building Regulations.

  • Lightweight but rigid and robust
  • Non-combustible
  • Designed to adapt to minor imperfections in substrates
  • Excellent water resistance

Earthwool® Rainscreen Slab BGV

Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV (black glass veil) is a semi-rigid, lightweight, non-combustible rock mineral wool slab containing a water repellent additive and a robust black glass veil facing, specifically designed for use in perforated rainscreen cladding systems.

The product is lightweight but rigid enough to resist the compression forces generated when fixing the insulation slabs to the buildings substrate. The water repellent additive in Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV provides a further line of defence against rain penetration.

Earthwool RainScreen Slab BGV is classified as Euroclass A1 to BS EN 13501-1, Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame to BS 476:Part 7 and Class ‘O’ to the Building Regulation.

  • Lightweight but rigid and robust
  • Non-combustible
  • Designed to adapt to minor imperfections in substrates
  • Excellent water resistance

Thermal Performance of Rainscreen Cladding Systems
Thermal Performance of Rainscreen Cladding Systems

The U-value of a proprietary rainscreen cladding system is dependent on the degree of thermal bridging in the system. Calculations should be created using 2 or 3 dimensional modelling programs which comply with the methodologies detailed in BS EN ISO 10211.
